Shin, and Jennifer Day The right to vote is arguably one of the most important rights of citizenship in a democratic country, yet a substantial number of U.S. citizens choose not to exercise this right. This report examines the levels of voting and registration in the November 2000 Presidential election, the characteristics of people who reported that they voted or were registered for the election, as well as reasons why people did not vote.
